“Caretta caretta sea turtle spawning egg”

The reason why sea turtles cross the planet from end to end to lay their eggs, still on the same beach, is still a mystery without solution. The eggs are buried more than 50 cm deep in the dry sand.

The turtle itself will lay about 400 eggs in three different laying times, 15 days apart from each other. They will then spend three years before a subsequent deposition.
